Ingredients

  • 150 g large tortilla chips about ½ large bag
  • 4 slices bacon chopped and cooked until crisp
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ½ small onion chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • cup + ⅓ cup barbecue sauce
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Green onion lettuce, and tomato for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Beef Mixture:

  • In a medium pan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper until the beef is browned. Drain any excess grease.
  • Stir in ⅛ cup of barbecue sauce and set the mixture aside.

Prepare the Barbecue Sauce:

  • Pour ⅓ cup of barbecue sauce into a small sandwich bag. Snip off a tiny corner for easy drizzling later.

Assemble the Nachos:

  • Line a baking sheet with a single layer of tortilla chips, ensuring there’s minimal space between them.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese, half of the beef mixture, and half of the bacon over the chips.
  • Drizzle half of the barbecue sauce (from the sandwich bag) evenly over the layer.

Add the Second Layer:

  • Add a second layer of tortilla chips on top of the first.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining cheese, beef mixture, and bacon. Drizzle the remaining barbecue sauce over the top.

Bake the Nachos:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the toppings are warmed through and the cheese is melted.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and garnish with green onion, lettuce, and tomato, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
