- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt optional, for topping
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Drizzle the caramel sauce over the dough layer.
Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel and gently spread it to cover as much as possible.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting. Sprinkle with sea salt, if desired.
