- 1 family-size box brownie mix for a 9×13-inch pan, plus ingredients to prepare
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1½ cups corn syrup
- 4 eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups pecans chopped or whole
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
Prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
Bake the brownie base for 20 minutes, or 10 minutes less than the time recommended on the box.
While the brownies bake, mix the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until well combined. Stir in the pecans.
Carefully remove the partially baked brownies from the oven and pour the pecan mixture evenly over the top.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for 25–35 minutes, or until the pecan filling is set but still has a slight jiggle in the center.
Let cool completely at room temperature (about 1 hour) before slicing into 20 squares.
If a family-size brownie mix isn’t available, use two regular 8×8-inch brownie mixes with their listed ingredients.
A combination of chopped and whole pecans adds great texture.
For clean slices, chill the brownies briefly and use a sharp knife.
